Pakistan placed in group with India in SAFF women’s championship

The team for the regional women’s soccer championship was announced on Saturday.
Pakistan is in Group A with India, Bangladesh and the Maldives.
Group B includes Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bhutan.

KARACHI: Pakistan is placed in Group A with five-time champions India and much stronger Bangladesh in Group A for the upcoming South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Women’s Football Championship.

The groups for the regional women’s soccer championship were announced on Saturday.

Pakistan is in Group A with India, Bangladesh and the Maldives. Group B includes Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bhutan.

Tests were held in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad and players with good records in the last two women’s national championships were invited to participate in the trials.

PFF will probably announce the team within the next two days.

The squad for the SAFF championship, according to the players, is tough for Pakistan and it will be a challenge for the girls who are mostly out for two years due to suspension in Pakistan.
