KARACHI: Part of an “abandoned” restaurant collapsed and fell into the sea at the capital’s famous Do Darya site, police said on Monday after heavy rain hit the city.

The official statement was made after videos went viral on social media showing the bridge near the sea had collapsed, and people appeared to be trying to save those who had fallen.

But Superintendent of Police (SSP) South Asad Raza said no human damage was reported, while police said the restaurant had been “abandoned” for 12 years.

Several restaurants are located on the coastal food strip

This development comes after heavy rains hit the city, severely damaging infrastructure and killing dozens of people.
